A 12-month adaptive fitness program for lower-limb amputees.

Get Stronger. Move Freely. Live Fully.

one leg up

more than just workouts

This isn't just a group of random exercises thrown together to make you sweat.

It’s your step by step progression to gaining strength and confidence on your prosthesis, built by someone who gets it.

I’ve used a prosthesis for over 30 years. Whether you’re above or below the knee, newly amputated or years post-op, this program gives you the structured practice you need to gain confidence in movement.

One Leg Up:
Monthly, interactive workout program that starts with the basics and progresses over time

Bodyweight and Bands:
12 weeks of bodyweight and banded workouts that can be completed at a gym or at home.

Proprioceptive Program:
8 weeks of proprioceptive exercises to practice balance and stability, with the goal of trusting the prosthesis more.

None! The point of this program is to learn how to move safely. If you are accustomed to working out with a prosthesis, you will have options to increase intensity. We start with improving everyone’s foundation, no matter where you’re at, and build from there.

Nope, it is built for both AKs and BKs. I demonstrate all movements via video, so if you have a different adaptation than me, you may complete certain exercises differently. However, I make notes of potential changes for AKs vs BKs, and modifications for mechanical vs microprocessor knees.

One Leg Up is focused on building a foundation, first. After the first 6 months of programming, you will have an option to transition to barbell work if you feel ready. (This is never a requirement, and otherwise the program will continue with dumbbell and kettlebell movements only.)

This is not CrossFit specific programming. However, you will gradually learn how to perform certain movements that are also found in CrossFit (ex. DB deadlift, DB snatch, DB hang clean). One Leg Up will provide a solid foundation to build on and prepare you for more specific forms of training, like CrossFit.

I just want to write a little note to let you know that I'm really loving this program. I know I said it before, but after each workout, I feel so strong and that I accomplished something. I also like the fact that you sprinkle in the functional stuff for us AK's. I'm over 50 and I've never bothered to walk step over step down the stairs in all my life. I never made myself try and practice it either. Since this practice is built in the program, I've been doing it. The other day, I was leaving a building and went down the 4 steps step over step instead of one at a time (while holding the railing). It was a nice accomplishment. It's the little things :-).

Tom

I’m finally starting to get feelings of normalcy again since my amputation almost 3 years ago. Being able to stand up and not be searching for balance, being able to carry a laptop and coffee across my office for a meeting, get a beer at the bar and not have to ask a friend to carry it for me to our seats. The balance and proprioception exercises were key in those little but important life gains.
