We like to overcomplicate things. As much as we don’t want to admit it, sometimes we like to over dramatize aspects of our life. It gives us more of an excuse to procrastinate or avoid, because we’ve made mountains out of molehills. It’s easier to sit down and panic rather than start climbing the mountain we’ve made out to be impossible in our heads.
In case you feel I’m being judgemental, just know I am literally the QUEEN of this. Talk to any human that knows me well – every single one of them will tell you I have a tendency to spiral after one thing goes wrong. This post is preaching to myself more than anyone.
Life is hard. We encounter real and difficult obstacles often, and I don’t want to take away from that. But for the days we feel everything is going wrong and it’s hard to imagine it ever going right again, ask yourself these questions…
-When was the last time I had a real, restful night’s sleep?
-Have I eaten enough nutrient rich, nutritious food today?
-Have I spent time outside?
-Do I need to move my body?
-When was the last time I had a real talk with a friend, or spent intentional time resting or having fun?
Answer those questions, and address any issues you see, first. Sometimes there are some deep issues that need to be addressed. And yet, sometimes you don’t need to do a detox or change your whole life plan. You need to eat a snack outside and go to bed early, and you’ll wake up tomorrow realizing everything is going to be okay.
Don’t give up, and don’t overcomplicate it. Just keep on chugging, kid.
